Is Memphis safe in 2026: citywide 2025 drops, empty houses, and a monitored door

People type “is Memphis safe” and “ADT home security in Memphis” in the same sitting because they want a verdict and a product. This journal will not give a verdict on your block. It will cite what the Memphis Police Department published for 2025, name Chief CJ Davis and Mayor Paul Young, and then talk about empty houses, porch packages, and leftover keypads. Home Security Systems Memphis is the local line at (901) 979-6001. SafeStreets installs. ADT monitors 24/7. This site is not ADT corporate. The lockup is Memphis Security Pros. We do not publish neighborhood crime rates. We do not invent a Cooper-Young number or a Germantown number. Citywide is citywide.

Direction on the citywide total is real. A quieter year is not a watch on a Tuesday slider. Porch packages and empty houses did not take 2025 off. They will not take 2026 off. How to order is the 901 path. This page is the citation plus the occupancy story.

What MPD finished 2025 with

The Memphis Police Department reported that 2025 finished with a 27 percent decrease in overall Part I crimes, a 26 percent decrease in murders, a 22 percent decrease in aggravated assaults, a 31 percent decrease in robberies, and a 48 percent decrease in carjackings. Memphis recorded fewer than 200 homicides in 2025 — the first time the city has reached that mark since 2019. MPD also reported nearly 500 fewer people injured in shootings, with shooting incidents down 38 percent compared with 2024. Compared with 2023, MPD said overall crime was down 41 percent, violent crime down 30 percent, and murders down 47 percent.

Those are citywide totals. They mix Downtown, Midtown, East Memphis, Whitehaven, Frayser, Raleigh, and every other in-city neighborhood on this site. They are not a Germantown rate. They are not a Southaven rate. Independent cities publish their own numbers if they publish at all. We will not invent those. We will not backdate a year. 2025 is 2025. This journal’s seed date sits in 2026, which is why the 2025 year-end figures are the citation, not a guess at a 2026 close.

Chief CJ Davis said the reductions did not happen by chance and that the 2026 focus is to sustain the gain. Mayor Paul Young has stood with that public-safety message. One homicide is still too many. A Part I drop is still not a door contact. Cite the department. Then arm the house you actually leave at 7:45.

Chief CJ Davis and Mayor Paul Young

We name the chief and the mayor because the 2025 figures came out under that leadership, not because a dealer site is a campaign page. Davis has talked about a gap between citywide totals and what people feel when they watch a clip on a phone. That gap is why leftover keypads still sit dead in halls while the citywide chart improves. Feeling safer and having ADT 24/7 are different files.

Young’s office and MPD both point to sustained work. This journal does not relitigate task-force timelines or TV arguments. It cites the 2025 year-end MPD figures above and then sells a professionally installed system for the hours nobody is home. If a new year-end report posts after this article, confirm the date. We cite 2025. We do not invent 2026’s close in advance.

A dealer line that pretends the citywide drop means you should wait is not doing you a favor. A dealer line that pretends the drop is fake is not doing you a favor either. The numbers exist. The empty house exists. Order for the house.

Citywide is not a neighborhood rate

We will not tell you Cooper-Young is this percent and East Memphis is that percent. We do not have a licensed neighborhood rate to print, and inventing one is how websites get ugly. Service areas on this site are where we schedule trucks: Downtown, South Main, Harbor Town, Midtown, Cooper-Young, Central Gardens, East Memphis, Cordova, Whitehaven, Frayser, Raleigh, Germantown, Collierville, Bartlett, Southaven, Olive Branch, West Memphis, and the rest of the catalog. They are not a ranking.

Independent cities are not MPD. Germantown Police is not Memphis Police Department. Collierville is not Metro Alarms. Southaven is not Olive Branch. If you want a collar-city statistic, ask that city. Do not scrape a Memphis citywide total onto a 38138 mailbox and call it a local rate. Communities we serve is the map. This heading is the refusal to invent.

A quieter citywide year can still include a tried door on a Tuesday. That tried door is why people order. Not a viral map. Not a ranking. A door.

Porch packages and empty houses did not take the year off

Boxes still sit on Cooper, Madison, Central, and East Memphis stoops. Boxes still sit on Germantown and Collierville porches. A doorbell is useful. An open rear door is the house. Complete+ at $74.99* is video. Secure+ at $53.99* still watches the slider. Many plans have a $99 install*. Homeowners only. 36 months. Asterisks apply. Porch packages is the stoop article.

Weekday empties toward I-40, I-240, Poplar, the Medical District, the airport, and the FedEx hub still happen. School-day empties after MSCS, Germantown Municipal, Collierville, Bartlett, Arlington, Lakeland, and Millington bells still happen. We will not rank those districts. We will ask you to arm. Weekday empties and school-day empties are the clock articles.

A citywide homicide drop does not retrieve a package. A citywide Part I drop does not close a garage walk-through. Occupancy is the reason to order in 2026 the same as it was when the 2025 totals were still being counted.

Independent cities are not MPD

Germantown, Collierville, Bartlett, Lakeland, Arlington, and Millington run their own desks. Southaven, Olive Branch, Horn Lake, and Hernando sit in Mississippi. West Memphis and Marion sit in Arkansas. ADT still monitors 24/7 when coverage confirms. The hall that would be called changes. Metro Alarms Chapter 9-16 is City of Memphis only: $30 new, $10 renewal, expires June 30, one free police false alarm then $50 plus $90, unpermitted +$20, fire $250, (901) 636-6380. Do not file that paragraph on a 38671 house.

Bartlett bills $50 after three false alarms in a calendar year. Southaven bills up to $100 after four false in twelve months. Olive Branch bills $100 after three false in twelve months. Other desks confirm from the ZIP. We do not invent a Germantown permit dollar. Paper is not a crime rate. File after install. Memphis versus Germantown and Memphis versus DeSoto are the desk articles.

A leftover sticker from a Memphis house does not follow you to Olive Branch. Photograph the new pad. Order the new account. Ask which desk we name now.

A leftover pad is not a verdict

Resale halls in Midtown, East Memphis, and Germantown are full of leftover keypads. New-build halls in Cordova, Collierville, and Southaven are full of builder leftovers. None of them are ADT until you order monitoring. A citywide drop does not turn them on. Photograph the pad. Call with the ZIP. Reactivate or replace. Leftover keypads and builder leftover keypads are the hardware journals.

People delay because the chart looks better. The leftover pad does not read the chart. The weekday empty does not read the chart. Order the account. Then read the chart if you want. The order of operations is the house first.

HOA packets that limit cameras are not a verdict either. Indoor sensors plus ADT 24/7 still protect a Germantown two-story when the board says no turret on the brick. HOA camera rules is the packet. Skip video if you must. Do not skip the door.

What people actually order after a missing box or a leftover keypad

Door and window sensors, including the garage and any extra unit. A doorbell camera if packages sit out front and the packet allows it. Outdoor cameras if the driveway holds a car overnight and the board allows it. Cellular backup so the panel still reaches ADT when MLGW, Chickasaw Electric, Entergy, or Northcentral drops. That is the Memphis-area order, not a twelve-camera quote unless you ask for one.

Secure+ at $53.99* adds smoke and carbon. Smart+ at $63.99* is the lock and thermostat conversation. Complete+ at $74.99* is video. Qualifying monitoring can include a free alarm promo ($850 value)*. Credit approval applies. Early termination fees apply. Offers are for homeowners. How much ADT is in Memphis is the money. Packages is the product page.

MLGW is the in-city default. Confirm the meter. Ask about backup. A camera app that dies with the router is not 24/7. Cellular backup is the feeder article. Outages still happen in a year when Part I is down.

Will police come if the alarm trips?

ADT can request help based on the alert type. Inside the City of Memphis that is typically Memphis Police Department. Germantown, Collierville, Bartlett, Southaven, Olive Branch, West Memphis, and other cities dispatch differently. Confirm the office from your ZIP. File the paper that belongs to that office so you are not the unpermitted address on a false-alarm clock.

Permitted Memphis systems get one free police false alarm per permit year. Teach codes. Use entry delay. Put a local contact on the call list. A citywide crime drop does not pay your false-alarm bill. Training does. SafeStreets should walk that on install day. How installation works is truck day.

A yard sign is not a dispatch. A leftover sticker is not a dispatch. ADT seeing the signal is the dispatch path. Order the account if you want that path.

Is Memphis safe enough to skip monitoring?

Citywide homicides were under 200 in 2025 for the first time since 2019. Part I was down 27 percent. Murder was down 26 percent. Porch theft and empty houses did not take the year off. Monitoring is for the hours you commute, work a downtown or hospital shift, or leave for school drop-off — not a verdict on your ZIP. We will not tell you to skip a panel because a chart improved. We will not tell you your block is a statistic we invented.

If you already own a leftover pad, you are not “waiting to see.” You are already in a house with plastic on the wall. Make it honest or replace it. If you already lose the house to I-240 at 7:50, you already have the occupancy story. Order for that story.

2026 can keep improving and the Tuesday slider can still open. That sentence is the whole journal. Cite MPD. Arm the house. Call the 901 line.

What this page will not cite

We will not invent a Cooper-Young rate, a Frayser rate, or a Germantown rate. We will not turn a precinct talking point into a neighborhood ranking. We will not backdate 2023’s totals into this article and call them 2025. We will not pretend a 2026 mid-year chart is a year-end close. The locked citation here is MPD’s 2025 year-end: 27 percent Part I drop, 26 percent murder drop, fewer than 200 homicides for the first time since 2019, Chief CJ Davis, Mayor Paul Young. If you need a newer chart, read MPD, not a dealer blog that guessed.

We will not tell you a collar city is “safe enough to skip.” Germantown, Collierville, Bartlett, Southaven, and Olive Branch still have weekday empties, leftover keypads, and porch packages. Occupancy is the reason those houses order. A citywide Memphis total is not their rate. Independent desks are not MPD. Confirm paper from the ZIP. Arm the house you leave at 7:45. That sentence is the same in 38138 and in 38104.

We will not use this page to argue television. Task-force timelines and national clips are not a keypad test. The leftover pad in your hall does not watch cable. Photograph it. Order monitoring. If the citywide chart keeps improving in 2026, good. Your rear slider still needs a contact. Your garage walk-through still needs a contact. Your extra unit still needs a door list. Cite the department. Count the openings. Call the 901 line. Those are three different jobs. This journal does the first and the third. You do the second on the call.

Cite the 2025 totals, then dial (901) 979-6001

Call (901) 979-6001 with the ZIP, house versus condo, leftover photo, and cameras yes or no. Hear the monthly. Hear the $99 install on many plans. Hear the desk. Hear the date. SafeStreets installs. ADT monitors 24/7. Memphis Security Pros is the local voice. Home Security Systems Memphis takes the quote. There is no form.

MPD’s 2025 totals are the citation. Your openings are the order. The Memphis security guide is occupancy and leftover pads. Communities we serve is the map. Then dial. A citywide drop is news. A monitored door is the product. A Cooper-Young side door, a Germantown garage walk-through, and a Southaven slider still need that product on a Tuesday in 2026.
